EMP0132 de Kerle, Jacobus Responsory III: Exaudi Deus noster
SATB General Use £5.00
Composed for the Council of Trent
EMP0327 Anonymous Responsum acceperat Simeon
SMATBaB Respond, Purification BVM, Candlemas, Presentation of Christ (February 2) £5.00
This splendid piece, some eight and a half minutes in length, is attributed to Josquin in the only printed source - Cantiones septem, sex et quinque vocum... Augsburg, M. Kriesstein, 1545 (RISM 1545/3 reprint 1546/5)- but the attribution has been rejected on stylistic grounds. It is nonetheless a fine piece and well worth singing.
EMP0421 Handl, Jakob (Gallus) Rorate coeli
SSATBB Introitus, Marian Feasts £3.00
EMP1139 Croce, Giovanni Sacre cantilene concertate 1610
£11.10
This posthumous collection is Croce's only venture into the modern music of his time, the 'seconda prattica.' The performance suggestions provided, presumably, by the publisher give a fascinating insight into the practice of the time: each piece is scored for 3, 5 or 6 soloists and continuo, plus an optional 4-voice Ripieno choir, which can be doubled or tripled (presumably in different parts of the church) 'perche fanno vagissimo e soavissimo Concerto.' This is the complete score of the Ripieno choir for all 10 pieces.
EMP1140 Croce, Giovanni Sacre cantilene concertate 1610
£20.50
This posthumous collection is Croce's only venture into the modern music of his time, the 'seconda prattica.' The performance suggestions provided, presumably, by the publisher give a fascinating insight into the practice of the time: each piece is scored for 3, 5 or 6 soloists and continuo, plus an optional 4-voice Ripieno choir, which can be doubled or tripled (presumably in different parts of the church) 'perche fanno vagissimo e soavissimo Concerto.' This performing edition presents all 10 pieces (the high-clef pieces transposed down a 4th) in a sturdy ring-bound score.
EMP1618 Croce, Giovanni Sacre cantilene concertate 1610
£50.50
This posthumous collection is Croce's only venture into the modern music of his time, the 'seconda prattica.' The performance suggestions provided, presumably, by the publisher give a fascinating insight into the practice of the time: each piece is scored for 3, 5 or 6 soloists and continuo, plus an optional 4-voice Ripieno choir, which can be doubled or tripled (presumably in different parts of the church) 'perche fanno vagissimo e soavissimo Concerto.' This is the complete set of parts for the ripieno chorus and basso continuo.

SATB,bc Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £4.00

EMP0731 Croce, Giovanni Salve Regina
SATB MATB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £4.00
Croce provided settings of all four standard Marian Antiphons in his 1591 collection of music for Compline. They are all comparatively simple and very effective.
EMP0539 Obrecht, Jacob Salve Regina
SSATTB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £5.00
An awesome piece: in my ensemble Hofkapelle we refer to this is 'Obrecht's Ninth'. The piece is on a huge scale and lasts a good 12 minutes including the chant verses. I offer it in two versions, one for mixed and one for male voices.

SAATTBB (bc) Marian Feasts £4.75
The 6- and 7-voice a capella motets of Gabrieli are among his loveliest, but are usually overshadowed by the large-scale pieces for voices and instruments. We are publishing all the small-scale pieces.
EMP0116 Isaac, Heinrich Sancti spiritus (Reichstag, Konstanz 1507)
SATB Occasional piece Manuscript edition £5.00
One of two motets (the other was Virgo prudentissima) composed by Isaac for the Reichstag summoned by Maximilian at Constance in 1507 to confirm his title as Emperor. This edition with reconstructed text was compiled from the two surviving manuscript sources.
EMP1128 Clemens non Papa, Jacobus Sanctus

Known only from an 18th century manuscript in the British Library, this piece was originally a textless canon for 5 voices, in the bass clef. It has been adapted here to the single word 'Sanctus'.
