EMP0423 Finck, Heinrich Veni sancte spiritus
SAATTBB Alleluia, Pentecost (Whitsun) £4.00
An unsual and very grand setting for seven voices, thought to have been composed for the Wedding of Ulrich von Württemberg and Sabine von Bayern in 1511, the occasion for which the great Wedding mass was also composed.
EMP0604 Gabrieli, Andrea Sic Deus dilexit mundum

EMP0993 Croce, Giovanni Percussit Saul mille
SATB SATB Respond, Sunday after Pentecost £4.00
This version is a fourth lower than the high-clef original, ideal for performance with cornetts and sackbuts.
EMP0995 Croce, Giovanni Percussit Saul mille
SATB SATB Respond, Sunday after Pentecost £4.00
A splendid double-choir piece, with the text 'Saul slew his thousands but David his ten thousands.' Model for the grand parody mass. This version is at the high-clef original pitch.
EMP1009 Croce, Giovanni Percussit Saul mille
SATB SATB Respond, Sunday after Pentecost £9.75
This version is a fourth lower than the high-clef original, ideal for performance with cornetts and sackbuts. A text found in no other setting, its belligerent - indeed pugnacious - character makes it apparent that it was written either for the annual Lepanto commemoration, or - most likely - to celebrate the Habsburg victory at Sisak in 1593. The source collection, Croce's first book of double-choir motets of 1594, was dedicated to Raimondo Della Torre, the Ambassador to Venice of the Holy Roman Empire. Here offered as a set of parts (each choir consisting of cornett, 2 sackbuts and bass sackbut or curtal/dulcian) to be played with the voices.
EMP0820 Croce, Giovanni Duo Seraphim clamabant
SSATB (+SATB) bc Holy Trinity £4.00
One of the shorter pieces in the 1610 collection. It has - naturally - a duo for 'Duo Seraphim' and a trio for 'Tres sunt', and only two tutti passages with the Ripieno, the second with a concluding 'Alleluia'.
EMP1628 Croce, Giovanni Duo Seraphim clamabant
SSATB (+SATB) bc Holy Trinity £3.00
One of the shorter pieces in the 1610 collection. It has - naturally - a duo for 'Duo Seraphim' and a trio for 'Tres sunt', and only two tutti passages with the Ripieno, the second with a concluding 'Alleluia'. This is the ripieno score.
EMP1642 Croce, Giovanni Duo Seraphim clamabant
SSATB (+SATB) bc Holy Trinity £8.50
One of the shorter pieces in the 1610 collection. It has - naturally - a duo for 'Duo Seraphim' and a trio for 'Tres sunt', and only two tutti passages with the Ripieno, the second with a concluding 'Alleluia'. This is the score and parts for the ripieno chorus and basso continuo.
EMP0290 Merulo, Claudio O adoranda Trinitas
SATTB Motet general, Holy Trinity £3.00
The text of this lovely piece is a variant of a Hymn (Chevalier II, 174, no. 12634) for the Feast of Holy Trinity. It shares with 'Ego sum panis' from the same collection (Sacrae Cantiones, 1578) an openness of texture and a melismatic style, here combined with telling use of late Renaissance semi-homophony. A high clef piece, here offered down a fourth.
EMP0521 Merulo, Claudio O altitudo divitiarum
SSAATBB Motet general, Holy Trinity £4.00
One of several pieces for seven voices in Merulo's Second Book of Motets. The text from Rom. 11 occurs liturgically as a reading on the Feast of the Holy Trinity. Merulo's setting includes a wonderfully syncopated treatment of the word 'investigabiles' (inscrutable!).
EMP0261 Willaert, Adrian Adesto Sancta Trinitas and Gloria tibi Trinitas
SAATB Hymn, Holy Trinity Manuscript edition £4.75
EMP0513 de Rore, Cipriano Missa Praeter rerum seriem
SSATTBB Mass Ordinary, Holy Trinity £7.10
A magnificent setting based on Josquin's motet (A Mary Sequence) The work was composed for Duke Ercole II of Ferrara, and in the only surviving source (Munich Mus MS 46) one voice sings throughout the mass the text 'Hercules Secundus Dux Ferrariae Quartus vivit et vivet.' In this version prepared for liturgical performance in San Marco, Venice, alternative texts were supplied, either setting sections of the Ordinary or using a new text in honour of Holy Trinity. The work is offered here without the Credo, which was not sung in San Marco.
EMP0049 Byrd, William Salve Regina (1605)
SATB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £3.00
The simple setting from the Gradualia.
EMP1107 Cavalli, Francesco Salve Regina
SATB,bc Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £4.00

EMP0731 Croce, Giovanni Salve Regina
SATB MATB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £4.00
Croce provided settings of all four standard Marian Antiphons in his 1591 collection of music for Compline. They are all comparatively simple and very effective.

SATTB Vesper Hymn, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £3.00
A setting of the Vesper Hymn for the feast of the Holy Trinity (also set for Saturday Vespers from the Saturday after the Octave of Epiphany until Quadragesima and from the Octave of Pentecost until Advent). Our standard version is a 3rd lower than the high-clef original.

EMP0539 Obrecht, Jacob Salve Regina
SSATTB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £5.00
An awesome piece: in my ensemble Hofkapelle we refer to this is 'Obrecht's Ninth'. The piece is on a huge scale and lasts a good 12 minutes including the chant verses. I offer it in two versions, one for mixed and one for male voices.
EMP0762 Obrecht, Jacob Salve Regina
SSATTB Marian Antiphon, Holy Trinity to the Saturday before Advent £5.00
This is the version for male voices.
EMP1287 Gabrieli, Giovanni O quam suavis 1597
SSAATBaB Magnificat Antiphon, Corpus Christi £4.00
O quam suavis is one of four 7-voice motets in Gabrieli’s 1597 collection Sacrae Symphoniae. The 6- and 7-voice motets which open the collection are often overlooked in favour of the large-scale pieces which follow, but in fact they represent some of the finest music which Gabrieli left us. This version has octave-Treble clefs for both Alto parts.
EMP1288 Gabrieli, Giovanni O quam suavis 1597

The 6- and 7-voice motets which open the collection are often overlooked in favour of the large-scale pieces which follow, but in fact they represent some of the finest music which Gabrieli left us.
